Can You Deep Fake Yourself and Go Viral on Social Media?
In today's world, where deep fakes are becoming more and more advanced and generative AI can automatically create social media content, it's natural to wonder if you can use these technologies to go viral on social media. The answer is yes, you can. In fact, I did it myself. I deep faked myself and the first video I posted went viral, with over a million views on TikTok, YouTube, Instagram, and Facebook. The craziest part is that people didn't even realize it was fake. They left all kinds of comments, asking why I didn't do it if I was so sure that the deep fake would work. In this article, I'll show you exactly how I deep faked myself, how I developed a strategy to go viral with that deep fake, and a secret website where you can create viral video scripts using your deep fake.
The Deep Fake Avatar
The website I used to deep fake myself is called heygen.com. To create your own custom avatar, you can go to the bottom of the website and click on their custom avatar section. There are two options available: the custom avatar light and the studio-level recording. The custom avatar light lets you record a webcam video of yourself, which is really simple to do. The other option is a lot more expensive, costing a thousand dollars a year and requiring studio-level recording. However, the fake one is so good that you don't need to pay the full thousand dollars.
After signing into heygen, you can create the deep fake version of yourself by clicking on "record avatar lite" and following the instructions. You can record yourself talking in the setting that you want for like three minutes and that's good enough. You can then upload that recording to the website. It takes about three to five business days for it to process, and then you'll see it automatically pop up in your account.
Going Viral with Deep Fake
A couple of months ago, I made a video with the exact same script where I showed how to deep fake yourself using artificial intelligence for unlimited social media. It looks just like me, with some subtle little face movements and stuff. To use that deep fake to go viral on social media, I literally copied the script of one of my other viral videos and swapped myself out with the deep fake. It did pretty well, with about 160,000 views on TikTok. I got a lot of comments on this video, asking why I didn't do it in this video and tons of others.
I don't advocate for copying other people's videos online. You can take a model that works and tweak it a little bit, tweak the script a little bit, or take one of your own viral videos or videos that performed really well and redo it with AI and swap of you and see if that performs really well. You can look up videos in your industry or niche that performed well. Don't copy word for word, that's not cool. But then use the deep fake and make that video.
Automating Your Social Media Video Marketing Strategy
If you stack that with the next website that I'm going to share, it's going to show you unlimited content ideas and make you unlimited video scripts that you can use for that deep fake to basically automate your entire video marketing journey. The website is syllabi.io. You can type in anything related to whatever industry that you're in, and it's going to show you the top questions that your customers are searching for.
For instance, if you're a realtor in Dallas, Texas, you can type something in like "House Dallas Texas" and it's going to show you all of the questions that people are searching for online around House Dallas Texas. Questions like "Do houses in Dallas Texas have basements?" You could create a video on that. Same thing with "How is the housing market in Dallas Texas?" "How much are houses in Dallas Texas?" "How to apply for Section 8 housing in Dallas Texas?" If that's your audience, then with AI, all you need to do is click on AI outline. It'll automatically create an outline for you around that question. It'll generate a video script for you if you want 30 or 60 seconds or a two-minute or a five-minute script.
All you need to do is copy this script, take it over to heygen where you have your deep fake of yourself, click on create video, and you can do a YouTube video here or a TikTok video. Your avatar will be live in the Avatar light section, so you can just click on your avatar there, and it'll fit it to the screen. Now all you need to do is paste in that script. If you did the avatar for yourself and you selected the voice cloning as well, you can select this and then select your own voice. We can sample it, then just click on submit.
