Magnific AI's Incredible Upscaling Technology: A Tour of Its Capabilities
👀 This week is shaping up to be massive for the AI world! Magnific AI just launched something really incredible, which is what we're talking about in today's article. CES is going on this week, Open AI is releasing the GPT store this week, and there are plenty more developments that I have cataloged so far. So, videos on all this stuff are coming shortly to catch you up to speed.
Introduction
Magnific AI is the upscaler and enhancer that "feels like magic." This isn't your traditional AI upscaling by any means. This is the before image, a low-resolution AI generation of a bush, and then it can be enhanced to look like real life. It hallucinates a lot of extra detail in there, and that's where the magic comes in. Previously, Magnific was capped at a limit of 2x upscale, but they just released a new feature that allows you to upscale to extremely high resolutions instead of the traditional 2x upscale. With Magnific, you now have the ability to go up to 4X the original resolution, 8X, and even 16x. This means that there is a max resolution here for an image of 10,000x 10,000 pixels, which is massive. That's a 100-megapixel photo.

The Community's Reaction
Let's start off by taking a look at what the community's reaction has been to this and also some of the coolest examples. Javy Lopez, who is actually the founder of Magnific AI, tweeted that the new upscaler image output quality is so high that it exceeds the max size of x/Twitter's upload resolution, which is around 4K. Martin Neong also on Twitter shows off the new 16x upscaling mode, resulting in an astonishing 100-megapixel photo. Proper Prompter also on Twitter shows off some crazy examples, and of course, the main point here is that Elon Musk responded to the initial release, "computer enhance."
Upscaling Examples
There are obviously a lot of applications for upscaling like this, so what I'd like to do today is take you on a tour of all the different things that this new Magnific upscale can accomplish, where this AI fits in our world today, and whether or not it's worth it. Let's start off by looking at some of the examples.
Grumpy Goldfish
First up, we have this generation from Doly 3 of a grumpy goldfish, and I think this one turned out pretty good. Since the fish is more like an alien in nature, a lot of the stuff that gets generated looks more realistic. Note for the rest of these upscales, I actually didn't use any prompt at all.
Santa Eating a Christmas Tree
Next up, we have this crazy Santa eating a Christmas tree image that I had laying around. This one has a lot of detail, so I thought it would look good upscaled, and actually, it did.
Portrait of a Cat
I had some problems with this one for sure. Again, I think you could definitely resolve these problems by rerunning this and trying out the different things.
Upscaling Real Photos
At this point in time, I wanted to try some real photos that I took with my phone. This is the before, actually a very low-resolution image, and then this is what it upscaled it to. It doesn't resemble the original very much at all.
Pros and Cons of Magnific AI
One of the main pros of Magnific AI is that it is able to hallucinate a lot of extra detail in images, making them look more realistic. It is also able to upscale images to extremely high resolutions, which is great for professional photographers. However, one of the main cons of Magnific AI is its pricing plan. The cheapest plan, Magnific Pro, is for $40 per month and only gets you 200 normal upscales and 100 large ones per month, which is not enough.
Is It Worth It?
So, is Magnific AI worth it? It depends on what you're using it for. If you're a professional photographer, then it might be worth it to invest in the premium or enterprise plan. However, if you're just a casual user, then it might not be worth the price.
