Success on Amazon FBA is impossible without the best Amazon research tools, regardless of your experience level—whether you're a seven-figure seller or just getting started.
We're here to relieve your SAAS-related migraine since determining which one offers the best value for money and which one is the ideal research tool for your company right now can be difficult.
We'll contrast Helium 10 and Jungle Scout, two of the most widely used product/keyword research tools, in this blog. Although we have included affiliate links in this post because we have to find a way to pay for our Gulfstreams, we are fairly compensated for all of the tools, so there isn't any preference for one over the other.
In this blog, you will learn:
- Jungle Scout vs. Helium 10: Comparing the Tools
- Which is more affordable: Jungle Scout or Helium 10
- Between Jungle Scout and Helium 10, which tool has the most accurate keyword volume estimates?
- Which Tool Set Is More Useful, Jungle Scout or Helium 10?
- Which is the best software sold on Amazon overall: Jungle Scout or Helium 10?
Jungle Scout vs. Helium 10: Comparing the Tools
Both of the software programs covered in this post have developed into a full toolkit designed to improve your Amazon sales. While some of these tools are genuinely helpful, others are merely unnecessary extras meant to provide the impression of value.
Fundamentally, though, every piece of software provides two main tools:
- Product research: Methods for identifying possible new items, primarily by estimating sales volume.
- Tools for keyword research: These are resources for identifying new terms, mostly via calculating keyword volume.
All program contains an extensive number of additional tools, some of which are useful and some of which are not. I'll also have a look at those.
Which is more affordable: Jungle Scout or Helium 10
Jungle Scout eliminated its revenue-sharing pricing model in the summer of 2020. (And we trashed Jungle Scout fairly hard for having that pricing plan, to begin with). Now, though, the prices of these FBA tools are all the same.
I'll start with a simple price comparison before going into more detail about each and what you actually receive for your money.
Both tools provide a monthly payment option as well as an annually discounted option for paying for the entire year in one lump sum:
The most affordable plan offered by Helium 10 is called the Starter, which costs $29 per month if you want to pay annually for $348. They have a plan that comes with the majority of their tools and is the most well-liked by customers. There is also a Free Plan offered by Helium 10, and it is actually pretty good. You receive two daily keyword searches, two Reverse ASIN lookups, and more. Helium 10 has the only significant free version of the two tools we evaluated.
However, Suite—which costs $59/month if you choose the monthly option or $33/month if you choose the yearly plan—is the most well-liked plan offered by Jungle Scout among its consumers. Access to the Supplier Database feature, which is included with all of their plans—including the $29 basic plan that permits 20 searches—is one of the software's advantages. This program will compile all of a company's details, including product kind, quantity, supplier name, and address, in an organized manner.
Between Jungle Scout and Helium 10, which tool provides the most accurate keyword sales estimates?
A sales estimation tool is included in every tool in one form or another. These technologies mostly use inventory levels and Best Selling Rank (BSR) to estimate sales, with an algorithm of some kind applied to get the most accurate estimate. We'll see that this is effective to varied degrees.
You can view a temporal snapshot of sales using all of the tools as well.
In order to verify this, I obtained the 30-day sales figures for 10 ASINs that we presently sell—from Product A to Product J—using each Chrome extension.
However, Helium 10 had the most accurate results on average with +202.89% compared to an average of +256.47% for Jungle Scout.
Because none of the tools was perfect, you should always take the sales projections from ANY tool with a grain of salt. In five out of ten cases, Jungle Scout was more accurate than Helium 10, and in four out of ten cases, both programs produced the same result for Product C's sales volume.
On average, Helium 10 yielded more accurate findings than Jungle Scout, with an average of +202.89% versus +256.47%.
However, Helium 10 had the most accurate results on average with +202.89% compared to an average of +256.47% for Jungle Scout.
Between Jungle Scout and Helium 10, which tool has the most accurate keyword volume estimates?
Additionally, a keyword volume estimator comes in some form in all of the products. From tool to tool, these estimations differ quite a little, so how can we figure out which is the most accurate?
Even Nevertheless, Amazon uses Product Opportunity Explorer, a service that provides real keyword data, to disclose genuine keyword volume.
For instance, the Product Opportunity Explorer tool tells us that the real volume of searches for "electrical blanket king size" over the last 30 days is 320,558,58. So how accurate are the Helium 10 and Jungle Scout tools given that we have access to real Amazon search data?
These are the findings from our investigation:
However, Helium 10 had the most accurate results on average with +202.89% compared to an average of +256.47% for Jungle Scout.
As illustrated in the accompanying figure, Helium 10 was more accurate seven times out of twenty, and Jungle Scout was more accurate thirteen times out of twenty. Nevertheless, as you can see, every tool's estimation was wildly inaccurate. Which one was the most precise?
The variation between each keyword that ecomcre examined was examined:
However, Helium 10 had the most accurate results on average with +202.89% compared to an average of +256.47% for Jungle Scout.
Though it was close, Jungle Scout is generally more accurate and more in line with actual keyword volume.
However, Helium 10 had the most accurate results on average with +202.89% compared to an average of +256.47% for Jungle Scout.
Which Tool Set Is More Useful, Jungle Scout or Helium 10?
Every software program has a many of additional capabilities available in addition to sales and keyword volume estimations.
Although Helium 10 looks to have a ton of extra tools, some of them are really just glorified Excel formulas meant to be used as throwaway tools. In particular, their Profits Calculator and Keyword List Duplicate Remover.
Helium 10 does, however, include a few extremely useful extra tools, such as:
- Refund Tool: Helps in requesting reimbursement from Amazon for misplaced inventory
- Alerts for Hijackers: Informs you when someone alters (critically!) or builds upon one of your listings.
- Inventory Protector: Prevents you from inadvertently using false coupons to sell a large percentage of your inventory.
Jungle Scout doesn't include many other tools. That being said, of all the software products covered here, Jungle Scout's Supplier Database is by far the best add-on utility. It was released in 2019.
By using the Supplier Database function in Jungle Scout, you may retrieve almost all import records from any importer in the United States. This implies that you can use Jungle Scout to determine precisely which goods a rival is importing and from whom. Although Panjiva and ImportGenius have been providing this kind of technology for years, it used to cost hundreds of dollars per month. It is now a part of your Jungle Scout membership.
The Supplier Database feature of Jungle Scout is so excellent that, particularly during a period of intense product development, it almost makes the cost of a subscription to Jungle Scout alone.
Which is the best software sold on Amazon overall: Jungle Scout or Helium 10?
Because Helium 10 was more affordable and featured a more comprehensive toolkit than Jungle Scout, it emerged victorious in this competition in 2019. But this year, in 2024, Jungle Scout wins the prize for the second consecutive year because of their sufficient inventory of tools for product and keyword research, their supplier database, and their more equitable pricing policy.
This year, Jungle Scout is without a doubt the best tool if you're willing to pay for it. Their $29/month plan or their $33/month plan both function admirably. But, Helium 10 offers a great free option if you can deal with a very small monthly search restriction if you're just getting started.
