🚀 Starting a Drop Shipping Business from Scratch: A 7-Day Challenge
Are you tired of hearing the same excuse that drop shipping is too saturated and impossible to succeed in? Well, I'm here to prove that it's still possible. In this 7-day challenge, I'm embarking on a journey to start a drop shipping business from scratch with a goal of making over $1,000 in revenue. And if I can do this while running multiple businesses at the same time, there should be no excuse for you not to go out and do this yourself.
Day Zero: Preparing for the Challenge
Before the challenge even started, I got some of the assets ready to jump in full force and get our best shot at making that $1,000. I picked a product that had a strong emotional trigger - a sterilization device for pacifiers. I chose this product because if a mother saw it advertised on her feed, she would likely buy it as it contributes to her baby's well-being. Plus, the margins associated with this product were healthy. I was able to get it for $11 shipped to the customer and sell it anywhere from $3 to $40.
As for the store, I'm not sharing it in this video because my goal is to grow it to $100,000 in sales to show everyone that this is still possible. But I'm definitely going to be revealing this store down the line. If you want the exact same website template that I used in this challenge, you can go to the link down below and sign up for my free course. It's completely free resources that will guide you to create your own profitable drop shipping store. I'm only letting 500 more people in, and it's closing down soon.
Day One: Launching Facebook Ads
I launched Facebook ads with one campaign that's an adset budget optimization. Inside that campaign, I did five separate ad sets, each targeting a different interest. In each of these ad sets, I had three different creatives. It's important to have multiple creatives because you never know which one's going to be successful until you test it out. I got all the content to run for ads from a website called Billow.
Day Two: Our Best Day Yet
On day two, we spent quite a bit of money on ads, but luckily, we had an insanely optimized website. Those 105 visitors ended up actually getting us eight sales, and we had an average order value of $426.33. We ended up clearing a total of $341 in revenue, but we didn't even come close to making a profit. We were about $40 for the day, but we were able to validate which creatives were getting sales, so it was just a matter of turning off the creatives and ad sets that weren't getting sales.
Day Three: A Massive Success
Day three started off super strong. We already had two sales that morning, and we only spent about $20 on ads. We ended up totaling four orders, and our average order value was $36. We ended up totaling $145 in sales, but unfortunately, we spent about $136 on Facebook ads, so we didn't even come close to making a profit.
Day Four: Things Finally Started to Pick Up
We ended up getting six orders on day four, and one of the customers ended up buying two units. We ended up having an average order value of $32.33, which ended up finishing the day off with $194 in sales. Our ad spend did slightly increase from the day before, and we ended up spending $154 on ads. Altogether, this was actually our best day yet because we were only $15 for the day.
Day Five: All Hell Broke Loose
We spent the same budget from the day before, which was $154, and we only got one sale for $29. This didn't make sense because before, our website conversion rate was averaging anywhere from 5 to 7%. But on this day, we got a 0.79 conversion rate, which meant that this was literally a 90% decrease from some of the days before. I had to cut all of the advertisements that were so-so and change our price structure around.
Day Six: A Humble Reminder
We ended up spending $79 on ads, and we got a grand total of zero sales. I have absolutely no idea what ended up happening with our store, but it was definitely a humble reminder that I don't have control over this entire process. Our website had an insane conversion rate, but with Facebook advertising costs being insanely high, it was near impossible to even be profitable.
Day Seven: Rest and Strategize
On day seven, I shut off all the advertisements completely and realized that I actually need to rest and strategize on what I'm doing. There are two things that I think we really need to do in order to start crushing: change out our creatives and test out other ad platforms. Facebook was way too expensive, so I definitely think we could test this out with Tik Tok ads and probably get better results.
Conclusion
Even though I lost hundreds of dollars in this challenge, it's not over. If you look at anyone's journey, it's never straight up. There are going to be bumps and curves in the road, and I'm definitely not going to quit as long as you guys want me to continue this challenge. You need to let me know down in the comments if you want me to continue this challenge for the next 23 days and make this a 30-day challenge and see if I can actually make a profit with this. This concept will prove that even if you're failing in the beginning, you just need to make some adjustments, just like anything in life.
