Introduction
In this video, we'll be showing you step-by-step how to connect your custom GPTs to WhatsApp. This has been a highly requested video because many of you have created awesome GPTs and want to break them out of the chat GPT site and start using them in the real world via things like WhatsApp. By connecting your GPTs to WhatsApp, you can tap into this massive user base and completely automate key tasks within a business like customer support or lead generation or even appointment setting for your business or for the businesses of your clients.
The issue with all this is that connecting AI assistants to WhatsApp can be an extremely painful process. So, we wanted to create this article to walk you through the easiest method that we've found so that you can get things set up and avoid the mistakes that we've made in our own experiences.
What We're Building
To show how this integration works, we will be setting up a WhatsApp lead generation chatbot for our own education business from start to finish. As always, we will be giving away the templates, the code, and everything that you see in this article so that you can steal this build and start to use it in your own business or sell it to others.
Setting Up Your Environment
To get started, you need to clone our Replit, which is available in the first link in the description. Once you sign up there, you can click on the Replit, which should be one of the links you should be greeted with this page. You'll need to sign up to Replit and create an account. It is free, and on the top right, you can click on this Fork button, which is going to clone or copy our entire code base so that you can use it yourself and make a couple of edits as needed.
Creating Your Assistant in Repet
The first step is to create your assistant in Repet. We've set up a few steps here, and each of them corresponds to what we have within our Repet. We just need to go through and head back to our not found page that we opened before and copy the URL, including the https. Then, we need to come to the URL section in Repet and just delete the old one and paste in our new one.
Connecting Repet to MiniChat
The next step is to connect Repet to MiniChat. To do this, you need to sign up to MiniChat and create an account. Once you're signed up and ready to go, you can click the save to MiniChat button in the bottom right. Then, you need to set up the trigger, which is going to be what triggers this automation. In this case, we want to click on WhatsApp and have it on a keyword.
Setting Up MiniChat for WhatsApp
The final step is to set up MiniChat for WhatsApp. Once you've pushed the update live, you can click on the preview button and switch it to in WhatsApp. Then, you can click the preview button, and it's going to give you a link. If you click on this link, it's going to ask you to open in WhatsApp, which is great. Start a new chat, and you're good to go.
Testing Your Integration
Once you've set everything up, it's time to test your integration. You can start a new conversation and ask your GPT questions. If everything is set up correctly, you should receive quick responses.
Deploying to a Production Server
While what we've set up in Repet is good for testing, it's not good for proper live applications. If you want to deploy your GPT to a production-grade server, you need to follow a few extra steps. We have a video coming on this, so make sure you subscribe to the channel.
Conclusion
Connecting your custom GPTs to WhatsApp can be a powerful way to automate key tasks within your business. By following the steps outlined in this article, you can easily connect your GPTs to WhatsApp and start tapping into its massive user base. Remember to test your integration thoroughly and deploy to a production server if you plan to use it in a live application.
