How to Choose the Right Niche for Your YouTube Channel
Are you looking to start a YouTube channel but don't know where to begin? With so many channels blowing up across YouTube, gaining millions of views, thousands of followers, and making thousands of dollars, it can be overwhelming to know where to start. But fear not, because the power of AI has never made it easier to actually start doing this yourself. One of the biggest secrets to these channels is that they have chosen the right niche in order for their channel to take off. In order for you to stand out amongst other YouTube channels and get monetized, you need to choose the right niche for you. The goal with this article is to help you decide that so you know as you're putting time into this YouTube channel that it will indeed pay off and make money for you long term.
🐾 Animal and Pet Videos
I wanted to kick off the article strong with this niche because it's actually a niche that I personally found success in. Also, who doesn't love watching animal videos? There are actually two ways you can go about creating these kinds of videos. You can create compilations of funny non-copyrighted animal videos from social media like this channel Funniest Animal Ever that, according to Social Blade, is making around $3,000 to $5,000 per month. Or, like me, if you have a pet that you want to share with the world, you can even start their own YouTube channel. I personally grew this YouTube channel without even showing my face by my own choice. I started showing my face later on, as you can see here, but I personally know other pet creators that are doing this and are extremely successful remaining completely faceless. I grew this YouTube channel to producing over six figures in less than one year, so I can personally confirm that the animal and pet niche is a great niche that you can get into.
🌱 Self-Improvement
Self-improvement is a popular niche across YouTube since it appeals to many people. Everyone wants to better themselves in different ways, so this niche can really be expansive, and you will never run out of ideas. This YouTube channel, Goar's Guide, is a perfect example of how he took this niche and created a faceless channel from it. He now has over 3 million subscribers from posting videos just like this, and according to Social Blade, a channel like this can make over $10,000 per month with these kinds of videos.
🌍 Travel
A perfect example of this niche is this YouTube channel, Toopa. They have over 1 million subscribers and also make an estimated $10,000 per month. You don't have to be a crazy world traveler or even have to visit these places in person to create this content since there's so much information available to you online.
🌎 Geography
Check out this channel, Real Life Lore, which has over 7 million subscribers. They talk a lot about world events using stock clips and maps and a voiceover, and this is a niche that isn't super saturated. So, if you do enjoy learning about world news, this would be a good niche for you to get into. You would never run out of ideas, or you could take this approach and really narrow down in this niche like this channel, The Geography Bible. You would obviously need to know a little bit about geography on your part, but remember, Google and the power of AI is your best friend when it comes to getting quick tips and knowledge that you can use in your videos, and you can earn a great amount of money actually making these videos.
💪 Motivation
This is a popular niche with faceless creators on YouTube. According to Social Blade, these channels are bringing in over $20,000 per month. Now, with these last three faceless ideas that I just mentioned, and even more faceless ideas that I'm going to be mentioning in this article, you will start to notice a pattern. Most of these videos are just random stock footage clips of the topic put together with a voiceover. And with this new tool that I actually found, you will not believe how easy it is to actually start making these videos.
🍳 Cooking and Recipes
If you are someone that enjoys cooking or baking, why are you not making YouTube videos about it? Now, for this one, you'll obviously be filming your own videos, but you don't need any fancy equipment for this. I have filmed so many of my YouTube videos, especially when I was a beginner, straight from my phone. Take a look at this one-minute simple video of boiling an egg. This video got 5 million views, and the typical RPM for this video would be around $5 to $10 since it is an instructional video. Therefore, this single video made an estimate of over $50,000. If you have a grandma that knows a bunch of traditional recipes, you better get her in the kitchen and start making videos with her too. You could set up your phone on a tripod, cooking things yourself, or you can film while a family member is cooking. And no, you don't need some fancy kitchen. Stop making excuses and just get started.
🖥️ Technology
This is a very beginner-friendly niche with low competition and high demand. The videos in this niche are easy to create using screen recordings and voiceovers. You will notice a lot of these are also AI voiceovers. With this niche, there's a big potential for affiliate commission, and you will notice that they have everything they talk about in the video down in the description boxes that people will click through and buy it straight from there. They will get a percentage of each one of these sales, and since technology products are more expensive, this can be a good additional passive income stream for them. People will usually be watching these videos before they buy the actual product, so this makes total sense.
📚 Math or Study Channel
Mary Does Math is a perfect example of a faceless YouTube channel that has gained over 100,000 subscribers in one year, and he's really just posting math equations. When I was in college for dental hygiene, I was always searching for videos that could help me memorize things, and I always remember while I was watching them thinking that there's got to be a whole niche for this. And that was really why I wanted to show this to you as well. And a lot of these videos have so many views, so even if you niche down to a topic like dentistry or to a topic in the medical field, this is definitely something that you can make passive income from long-term.
🎮 Gaming
If you are someone that likes to play video games, why not stream it? You're already playing the game, you may as well live stream it as you're playing it. I heard a statistic lately that said gamers are one of the highest-paid brand deals, so the amount of ways you can make money as a streamer/gamer on YouTube, Twitch, etc., is just absolutely insane. And
