I was going out of town and I bought this thinking that the tree base would slowly refill from the reservoir in the box. It did not. I had to lift the box so that the line was even or higher the base for it to fill. So if there was water already in the tree base, the base would overflow from the water in box. This is basically a version of a watering can. This is a waste of money.

I followed the instructions and it never worked. Every morning the water level was the same in the box and I had to water it the old fashioned way. I lifted the box to make the water start flowing, and instead it flooded the floor because the hose detached. What a mess! This initially seemed like the perfect solution to watering our Christmas tree. Unfortunately, due to either condensation or just generally leaking, this box leaked onto our hardwood floors, damaging the flooring beneath where it sat. I wouldn’t recommend this product as we have had significant issues with it. Will go another route next year.

This is easy to setup and it works. This watering system works on basic principles of physics called Pascal's Law. In short, connected vessels containing a liquid will maintain that liquid at the same level. The stand your tree is in and the interior of the Tree Helper are both open to atmospheric pressure. When you place the free end of the hose in the stand and then follow filling directions for Helper, you will start filling the tree stand also. You then move the Helper to the floor and, going forward, the water level in your tree stand will stay at the level of water in the Helper. Once I marked the stand high water height and marked it on the bag inside the Helper, I calculated that the the volume of water held at the mark was anywhere from 2.5 to 4 times the water I would add to my tree on a daily basis. It depends on how thirsty the tree was. So, I knew we could go away for the weekend and come back to a tree that had maintained a healthy water level just due to Physics. No batteries, no plug, no pump. My only concern is how the water bladder and hose will age over the summer. But, at this price I could buy a new one every year and call it holiday travel insurance. If you like live trees, and you want to take 2-3 days trips during the season, then I would highly recommend getting this system.

It truly works! We had left for 4 days and it still had enough water left in box and tree. Will re-order again. I forgot to put oranges on top so my cats don’t sit on it. They sat on it and ruined it but the box still works. Cats stay away from oranges/citrus smells. This is not sponsored/ad but I really liked it.
