Please pay attention! Tempeh is an aged product, like cheese, beer, or vinegar. Reviews that mention mold should be removed. They unfairly influence ratings. They are made by people who bought a thing without learning anything about it first. The mold is a normal part of the process, just like cheese mold. Tempeh should be baked or fried before eating. Then you don't taste the mold. The mold breaks down the grains and legumes, making it easier to digest and more nutrients available.

While I am very satisfied with the tempeh itself, in my attempts to make more eco friendly choices I will have to stop purchasing due to the multiple plastic packages, not 1 but 2 tightly sealed wrappers guarantee no leaks and preserve freshness but are an oxymoron when I am eating tempeh in an effort to be more environmentally conscious. I would definitely keep purchasing if they come out with some other more sustainable packaging, but until then I guess I will have to try making my own tempeh at home.

This tempeh is the second batch I have ordered from this company. It has arrived well packed, fresh, both times. I have been able to process the tempeh into my favorite recipes, introducing a variety of flavorings. I will continue to use this company.

I have been eating this brand of tempeh for over 20 years. It is very good quality. Tempeh in itself is bland and very little flavor - it is what type of seasoning, sauce and cooking method that helps give it some "oohmph". My fave is to slice it very thin and put it in the toaster over to brown it nice and crispy and then put a dab of yellow mustard on it for a quick snack - wrap it up in a lettuce leaf - yummy! I also like to crumble up tempeh and use it as a base for chili. This is a very good brand and high quality. Tempeh is as high in protein as any animal food but far healthier and lower in calories. This has TONS of protein and excellent source of fiber - very nutrient dense. Very economical if you are on a strict grocery budget - a little package of tempeh goes a long way - it is great in stir fries and I recommend sauteeing it in Toasted Sesame Oil with a sprinkle of sesame seeds, some grated ginger, garlic, coconut aminos or soy sauce. IT is endless all the ways you can use this product I always have 4-5 packages of this in my fridge and it has a LONG SHELF LIFE - so this brand is always a staple food in my kitchen LOW SODIUM which is nifty!

Since it was shipped ice all of the packages were thawed. Then I saw that the expiration date is 15 march 2022, which is 53 days from now. I guess I'll be eating a-lot of tempeh in the next month.
