I rarely buy processed items, especially to use as baking ingredients, but this in one of my few exceptions. I use Bird’s custard powder for nothing else but making Nanaimo bars. Many people suggest using vanilla pudding as a substitute (too different, too sweet) and others suggest using corn starch & vanilla. That’s a better option for its consistency and sweetness level, but it is still missing the uniqueness & traditional flavour of Bird’s. I’ve never even used Bird’s to just make custard (for that, I make it from scratch). I guess using Bird’s in my Nanaimo bars (which uses other processed items like graham crackers) is just a flavour of my childhood and makes the bars exactly right! They’re super sweet, so if I’m going to eat them, I want them to be just right!

I received my pudding today.I made the chocolate one with my lactaid milk (I am lactose intolerant).I had never jesrd of this product before and bought it blindly. I wish I could give it more than 5 stars.Delish is a great name for it,It is so yummy..I can't wait to try the other flavors I bought.I just wish they sold these in stores .
