People tell you that the tip on your exhaust system is purely aesthetic, and does not effect the sound or tone of your system. I have a degree in sound engineering and have studied acoustics in some depth. Enlarging the tubing of your exhaust system later down the line and projecting it at and angle like this will deepen and project the tone. On my 2012 Ram 1500 4.7 with a flowmaster 44, this accentuates the growls and slightly deepens the tones leaving a nice rumble without obnoxious droning.
