I've used this a half dozen times or so. I pulled it out today to change some gear oil in the final drive of a shaft drive motorcycle. I use it to measure the oil from the bottle and then inject it into the filler hole. It would not suck up even thick gear oil from the bottle. Figuring I didn't really need that, I took the top off and took the plunger out and filled the cylinder from the top with the oil. I replaced the plunger. Then, when I tried to inject the oil into the filler hole, most of the oil just went right by the o-rings such that it was above the plunger. Then, it wouldn't drop below the o-rings without a bunch of cajoling. It has become essentially useless unless I can find appropriate o-ring replacements.

I purchased this pump to use for replacement of transfer case fluid. I measured the transfer case fluid in a jar and used this pump to suck from the jar and discharge through fill hole. It took three turns to finish one axles, since my truck’s case needs 455 ml fluid. Mostly fill holes are at hard to reach locations and with this pump it was super easy. I had other pump witch you directly screw on the quart bottle and pump it, but it’s hard to keep the track that how much oil you filled or just fill until it start dripping with those pumps and also you have to push those pumps lot of times. But I wanted to be as accurate as possible and simple. This extractor pump did the job.

Why don't you have one, yet?!?! Said a friend of mine that changed my oil in my Jeep in under 15 minutes. I wanted to borrow a socket to get the oil filter cap off, and he told me to bring my Jeep over to his place and we'd have the oil changed in under 15 minutes - and not even have to get our hands dirty. Well, he was right. This device is big enough for most cars to siphon out your engine oil through the dipstick tube. Once the oil is out, change the filter, add the new oil, and - if you're really resourceful - pour the old oil into the empty new bottles to take to the recycling center. If the oil filter is on top of the engine, as mine is, you don't have to get on the ground for any part of the oil change. You don't have to worry about replacing crushable washers on drain plugs anymore. There are several versions of this device available, so I recommend going with a capacity that fits your needs (and is on sale). Look at reviews for reliability and condition out-of-the-box. You don't want a cracked device. This device is an absolute game changer. Even if you do have to get on the ground to replace the filter, you don't have to worry about drain plugs and crush washers ever again.
I hated using this oil extractor. for such a simple device it is very finicky to get a good vacuum I’ve had this for 2 yrs and today I had enough of it and smashed it into the ground. The first 1 I purchased from harbor freight I purchased for a jet ski worked fantastic. This 1 was a nightmare and I’m glad it’s gone. I would never buy from this company again

Love this thing. My biggest problem with this unit is hunting it down cause half the shop keeps stealing it. Its got great action. The pump is strong and easy to use and it hasn't flinched at the semi-corrosive stuff I've put in it (brake and power steering fluid and gasoline)
