This cap fits over the pawl neatly ,but there is no attachment mechanism beyond tightening the steel tabs on either side of the cap. After doing so, it may wiggle slightly, and slips off with a good tug. Note that the ratchet will pull the cap in the same direction--up and off of the pawl.
