Amazing difference between my Onkyo CD changer and this unit. SO much clearer and crisper sound - I literally could not believe I was listening to the same CD. It's not that I didn't like the older changer, it's just that this is head and shoulders above. I was kind of thinking about buying a new stereo but this cd player makes my old system sound fantastic. I was thinking about a Marantz but even their higher-ended stuff is made in China and I am just sick of China. This unit is made in Malaysia and is very solid - it is much smaller but weighs more than my big old Onkyo changer. But the sound is the clincher, just awesome and I can not be happier. I bought a second unit to have as a backup in case this one should conk out.

Received this yesterday and ran it hard and heavy for about 3 hours. It seems to work very well and it even likes my older "scratched up" CD's and no problem with the burned music I created. Did a lot of research on this unit and there was a lot of negative reviews of failing right out of the box, which were lemons right from the factory I would think. There were also reviews of it failing after 1 year or so. Time will tell I guess. I will update this medium rating as time goes on. In the meantime I will enjoy and keep testing.

Though I take my music listening seriously, I am no audiophile, so I have little to say on the nuances of the sound of this player. 'It sounds great to my ears' about sums up that aspect. The last time I bought a CD player, I was more or less forced to get a multi-disc changer, which I have never liked. Although it still plays, I decided to cast about recently to see if a modestly priced single disc player might be available & I likened upon this item. I've had it for a week and am very happy to have it. Operation is smooth and quiet, set up is easy and the sound is good. What's not to like? It was a pleasure to cast the old 5 disc beast into the darkness.
After working fine for 11 months, this Onkyo CD player started skipping, then said "no disk". I tried several CD's and the same thing. Of course since I bought it on Amazon instead of somewhere like Crutchfield, it is not eligible for a return anymore. I'm out almost $200 for less than one year of use. I'll use Crutchfield next time.

This Cd player sounds great!
My Onkyo only lasted about 18 months before dying(i.e not playing cds correctly). 18 months! sheesh! The one best feature is that it plays mp3s. It's drawbacks: 1. It takes about 20 seconds to power up before you can insert a cd. 2. The rewind/ fastforward ONLY works by using the REMOTE ,and not on the machine itself, and works poorly. When this thing finally started dying, it would play 10 seconds of a cd, then skip to the next, play 10 seconds of THAT cd, move on,,etc I was happier with my old Sony.

I love this onkyo CD player it is perfect for me because I listen to a lot of cds all day so I had a one disc CD player.Now haveing this 6 disc one is a lot easier!I don't have to open up and take out and put in a cd every single time now I can listen to 6 cds that I choose non stop or repeat or if I wanna mix it up put it on random.It also looks very nice and the green light in the middle looks very nice looking better then in the picture.I had it one day and I love like it this much already.
